Google Workspace Program Lead / Architect (Chromebook Deployment)
Location: Remote
Type: Contract (6–12+ months, likely extension)
Rate: $75–$90/hr (W2)
Overview
We are partnering with a large, enterprise-scale organization undergoing a major Google Workspace transformation initiative. This role will act as a hybrid Project Manager / Architect / Lead Engineer, responsible for owning the strategy, design, and execution of a Chromebook and Google Workspace rollout (500 → 1,200 users).
This is not a traditional PM or admin role—this individual will function as the subject matter expert (SME) across Google Workspace, ChromeOS, and cross-platform collaboration (Google + Microsoft 365), driving both technical execution and stakeholder alignment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own end-to-end delivery of a large-scale Chromebook deployment (initial 500 users scaling to 1,200+)
- Lead Google Workspace implementation, configuration, and optimization, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet, and Admin Console
- Architect and enforce device management strategy (ChromeOS / MDM / endpoint policies)
- Drive project planning, execution, and stakeholder communication across IT, business, and executive teams
- Define and implement organizational unit structures, access controls, and security policies within Google Workspace
- Oversee device provisioning, configuration, policy enforcement, and lifecycle management
- Manage identity, access management, and governance (SSO, permissions, compliance)
- Lead migration / coexistence strategy between Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments
- Design and execute change management, training, and adoption strategies for end users
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on networking, DNS, email routing, and cloud integrations
- Establish best practices, documentation, and operational runbooks for long-term scalability
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex Workspace / ChromeOS issues
