Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

The General Production Worker supports a variety of manufacturing and assembly operations, working in departments such as wood cutting, wood assembly, material handling, corrugated, pulp, dock work, foam assembly, and foam cutting. You use hand and power tools to produce and assemble custom crates and packaging for a wide range of industries, while following established safety, quality, and ISO work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company safety and quality policies at all times.
  • Follow established ISO work instructions and standard operating procedures as applicable to the assigned department.
  • Complete assigned manufacturing and assembly tasks using specified equipment within the allotted time.
  • Use hand and power tools to cut, assemble, and process materials such as wood, corrugated, pulp, and foam according to production requirements.
  • Monitor and handle materials efficiently to minimize scrap and waste during production.
  • Process scrap materials for recycling according to company guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment in alignment with established 5S standards at all times.
  • Operate machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety requirements.
  • Report safety concerns, quality issues, and equipment maintenance needs promptly to supervision.
  • Participate in cross-training initiatives to learn tasks in other departments and support broader business goals and objectives.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment to meet daily output and quality targets.
  • Use a tape measure and basic shop math to measure, cut, and verify materials accurately.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and complete required production documentation or simple correspondence as needed.
  • Assist with packing and packaging of finished products to prepare them for shipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by maintaining high standards of housekeeping, safety, and product quality.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write short correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using basic shop math.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Comfort and familiarity using hand tools and power tools in a production setting.
  • Experience with general labor, production, or assembly work.
  • Ability to operate basic production or packaging machinery following guidelines.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Dedication to completing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
  • Strong commitment to following safety and quality procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with packing and packaging processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints or basic production drawings.
  • Comfort working with materials such as wood, corrugated, pulp, and foam.
  • Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization practices.
  • Understanding of ISO work instructions or other standardized work procedures.
  • Interest in cross-training and learning multiple departments and job functions.
  • Reliability and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.
  • Willingness to report issues and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The work environment is very clean, well kept, and temperature controlled, providing a comfortable and organized setting for production work. The facility can be somewhat loud due to machinery and equipment, but it is not excessively noisy and has no unpleasant odors. You work with hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and production or packaging machinery, depending on your assigned department. The environment emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and adherence to 5S standards, supporting efficient and safe operations throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Worcester, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
