General Production Worker | Morristown

$23 an hr | Weekly pay

Job Description

This role operates within a dedicated production cell to process rubber components for the automotive industry from raw material through to finished, quality-checked parts. You will handle molding tools, run automated equipment, cool and remove finished parts, and perform detailed visual inspections while maintaining accurate production and quality documentation. The work is straightforward but repetitive, requires consistent attention to detail, and moves at a steady pace with multiple batches in process at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within an assigned production cell to take rubber automotive products through the full production cycle from raw material to finished parts.
  • Prepare molding tools by loading each slot with small metal rings, placing 24–48 rings one by one with consistent accuracy and speed.
  • Load and flip molding tools into the machine, similar to flipping a pizza, ensuring proper positioning and safe operation of the equipment.
  • Continuously rotate between multiple tools and batches, typically managing one tool being filled, one in the machine, and one being inspected at any given time.
  • Remove molding tools from the machine after the molding cycle is complete and use an air brush to cool the parts to the appropriate temperature.
  • Flip cooled tools to release molded rubber components onto the work table or workstation without damaging the product.
  • Perform careful visual inspection of each part, including very small components, to identify defects such as air bubbles, tears, or rips in the rubber.
  • Use a cell-specific quality binder and, when needed, a magnifying attachment to understand and apply the correct quality standards and defect criteria.
  • Sort acceptable parts from defective ones, ensuring that only products meeting specifications proceed to packaging.
  • Count and handle large volumes of small parts by filling bins, weighing them to confirm the correct quantity (such as 1,000 pieces), and moving on to the next batch once counts are verified.
  • Maintain accurate, legible shift logs at the workstation, documenting who ran the part, basic maintenance or troubleshooting performed, scrap counts, and progress toward production goals.
  • Record machine temperature readings and product specifications during the shift to support quality control and process consistency.
  • Follow established safety procedures at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and Kevlar sleeves.
  • Adhere to quality standards and production targets while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workstation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leads about production status, quality issues, or equipment concerns.
  • Support general production tasks such as counting, sorting, inspection, packaging, labeling, painting, assembly, material handling, and basic machine operation as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds approximately 30 times per hour from table height, flip the item, and set it back down safely and repeatedly.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for the full shift, outside of scheduled breaks, in a production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail for repetitive tasks, especially when inspecting small parts for subtle defects.
  • Ability to read and understand English to follow work instructions, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Capability to work safely and consistently follow established quality and safety standards while using required PPE such as safety glasses and Kevlar sleeves.
  • Comfort with repetitive, fast-paced work while managing multiple tools or batches simultaneously.
  • Basic counting, sorting, and weighing skills to verify quantities and track production accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with coworkers, leads, and other departments as needed.
  • Demonstrated reliability and work history with no more than two jobs in the last six months, indicating stable employment patterns.
  • Willingness and ability to work a full shift without leaving the facility, including breaks, in accordance with company policy.
  • Ability to follow a no-tobacco and no-vaping policy on company property and during the entire shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in production, general production, or as a production operator in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • History working in inspection, packaging, labeling, painting, assembly, or machine operation in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with material handling, inventory, or order picking in manufacturing, retail, or warehouse environments.
  • Exposure to food packaging, food production, foodservice, or broader food industry roles that involve repetitive, process-driven work.
  • Experience in construction or other hands-on roles that require physical stamina and consistent safety practices.
  • Comfort working with industrial manufacturing equipment and following detailed work instructions and quality procedures.
  • Enthusiasm for learning the production process and growing into advanced roles such as mold cleaning, case treat, shipping, cell support, or maintenance apprentice positions.
  • Ability to maintain focus and quality in a climate-controlled environment with repetitive tasks and steady production goals.
