Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description

This role supports a high-volume plastics manufacturing operation that supplies the automotive industry. As a General Production Worker, you work within your own work cell to load and unload parts from injection molding machines, perform visual and basic dimensional quality checks, and carry out light assembly and trimming of excess materials. You follow established procedures to keep production running smoothly, maintain product quality, and support overall plant efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within an assigned work cell to load raw or semi-finished parts into injection molding machines and unload finished parts safely and efficiently.
  • Work with injection molding equipment as directed, following all standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform regular quality checks on finished products, including visual inspection and basic measurements, to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Identify and remove defective parts, and promptly report quality issues or equipment concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Carry out light assembly tasks on molded components according to work instructions and production requirements.
  • Trim excess material, flash, or runners from molded parts using appropriate hand tools while maintaining a clean and precise finish.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, including proper handling and staging of materials and finished parts.
  • Follow production schedules and meet established productivity, quality, and accuracy targets for your work cell.
  • Accurately follow written and verbal instructions, including job travelers, work orders, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and support staff to resolve minor production issues and keep equipment running effectively.
  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures, including the proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting ideas that improve safety, quality, or efficiency when opportunities are identified.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 months of manufacturing or production experience.
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance in previous employment.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a production environment, including standing, lifting, and repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Experience with basic production processes such as loading and unloading parts on a manufacturing line.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong attention to detail to perform quality inspections and identify defects.
  • Capability to use basic hand tools safely for trimming and light assembly.
  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shift hours, including first, second, or third shift as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with injection molding equipment.
  • Familiarity with operating or working around injection molding presses and related production machinery.
  • Comfort working in a large-scale production facility with multiple presses and overhead cranes.
  • Interest in learning additional roles such as material handling or quality inspection to support career growth.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude toward teamwork and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean, modern manufacturing facility with a large production floor housing over 50 presses, including 1,500 to 4,000 ton presses. The operation includes around 20 injection molding presses, such as dual profile rotary and two-shot injection presses, as well as equipment from major manufacturers like Engels, Cincinnati Milacron, and Krauss Maffei. The plant utilizes 60-ton overhead cranes to support material handling and equipment operations. Work is performed on a structured shift schedule with three options: first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and third shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Monday night. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with clear safety procedures and an emphasis on cleanliness and organization in each work cell.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $16.50/hr.
