Job Title: General Construction Technician

Job Description

This role supports the building, repair, and renovation of ground-level office trailers at a dedicated yard location. You will work primarily outdoors, assisting with a wide range of construction and maintenance tasks such as framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and drywall repairs to ensure each trailer is safe, functional, and ready for use. Safety is a core focus in every aspect of the work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building, renovating, and refurbishing ground-level office trailers from arrival on site through completion.
  • Perform exterior framing repairs to address structural or cosmetic damage to trailer exteriors.
  • Support plumbing repairs to ensure all systems are operational, including fixtures, lines, and connections.
  • Perform basic electrical work such as replacing switches, checking and ensuring outlets function properly, and addressing minor electrical issues.
  • Conduct light HVAC repairs within defined scope, while coordinating with external contractors for more complex HVAC work as needed.
  • Carry out interior and exterior painting to maintain a clean, professional appearance of trailers.
  • Repair and replace drywall as needed, including patching, finishing, and preparing surfaces for painting.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete framing, carpentry, and renovation tasks.
  • Apply caulking and sealants to protect trailers from weather and ensure a tight, finished appearance.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE, to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Work outdoors and in shop areas in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with a small, consistent team to complete daily workloads and meet project timelines.
  • Record work hours accurately using the client’s punch-in system.
  • Lift and move materials and equipment up to and above 50 pounds and remain on your feet for most of the shift.

Essential Skills

  • Prior construction or general labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on your feet for the majority of the workday.
  • Basic familiarity with construction tasks such as framing, carpentry, painting, drywall repair, plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, and renovation.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills on the job.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Comfort working indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, carpentry, or rough carpentry.
  • Experience with framing, drywall repair and replacement, and general renovation work.
  • Experience with painting, both interior and exterior.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge, including minor repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including switch and outlet replacement and testing.
  • Exposure to HVAC systems and ability to perform light HVAC repairs within defined scope.
  • Comfort using caulking and sealants to weatherproof and finish surfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team.

Work Environment

You will work primarily outdoors or in a shop area where conditions are not always climate-controlled, so comfort working in varying weather is important. The local team is small, typically around 10–15 people, including field staff and office personnel, which fosters a close, team-oriented atmosphere. Standard hours are generally around 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime monitored and worked as needed based on workload. The employer provides the tools required for the job, including hand and power tools. Personal protective equipment is a priority: steel-toe boots are required, and high-visibility gear, safety glasses, and gloves are provided. The dress code is practical and work-focused, including work pants and attire appropriate for outdoor and construction tasks. Time is tracked through the client’s punch-in system to ensure accurate recording of hours worked.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
