Job Description

The Finisher on 3rd shift prepares metal products to precise customer specifications by grinding, sanding, and finishing parts to a high-quality standard. This role uses a variety of hand and power tools to remove excess metal, perform basic assembly, assist machine operators during downtime, and ensure all products meet established quality requirements. The position is physically active and involves lifting, inspection, and general housekeeping in a production and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal products to meet customer specifications by performing finishing operations.
  • Use hand grinders to sand and grind down excess metal from parts and components.
  • Perform deburring, polishing, and metal finishing tasks to achieve smooth, consistent surfaces.
  • Assemble products and components as needed to support production requirements.
  • Assist machine operators during downtime to maintain workflow and minimize production interruptions.
  • Use various hand and power tools, including grinders, sanders, and hammers, to straighten and finish parts.
  • Interpret basic instructions and visual standards to ensure parts are finished correctly.
  • Inspect finished products and perform quality assurance checks to verify they meet quality standards.
  • Identify and report any defects or issues with parts or equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties to keep the work area organized and safe.
  • Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 55 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working on the production floor.

Essential Skills

  • Prior experience using grinders and hand tools in a production, manufacturing, construction, or similar environment.
  • Comfort using hammers to straighten and adjust metal parts.
  • Ability to perform general production and general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with metal finishing processes such as grinding, sanding, deburring, and polishing.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, including grinders and sanders.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to support mechanical assembly and finishing tasks.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and basic quality checks on finished products.
  • Capability to lift up to 55 pounds and perform physically active work throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Approximately 3 months of prior production or manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in machine operation, kitting, or mechanical assembly is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with reading basic blueprints or following visual work instructions is helpful.
  • Comfort working with concrete, metal, and other industrial materials in a shop environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with machine operators and other production team members.
  • Reliability and punctuality in a shift-based production environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.25 - $26.25/hr.
