• Perform accurate job costing, tracking expenses, change orders, and variances across multiple projects.

• Handle construction-specific tasks: progress billing, AIA forms, retainage, lien waivers, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

• Prepare and manage monthly bank draws and loan disbursements.

• Prepare financial statements, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports, and job profitability analysis.

• Reconcile job costs with the general ledger and ensure accurate overhead allocation.

• Manage certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting as needed.

• Work closely with project managers and ownership to provide timely financial insights.

• Maintain compliance with construction accounting standards and tax requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience specifically in the construction industry (required).

• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, progress billing, and retainage.

• Technical Skills (Required):

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop or Online (strong required; must be able to work independently with advanced features).

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis, and financial reporting).

• Solid understanding of construction management software integration (e.g., linking accounting systems with project tools).

• Preferred Technical Skills:

• Experience with construction-specific platforms such as Procore, Foundation Software, Sage 300 / Sage 100 Contractor (including Timberline), Viewpoint, Buildertrend, or similar ERP/project management systems.

• Familiarity with payroll systems and tax reporting tools.

• Experience with payroll processing, sales & use tax, and 1099 management.

• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-accounting team members.

• Construction-specific certifications (e.g., CCIFP) or accounting degree preferred but not required.

What We Offer

• Competitive salary of $75,000 – $90,000+ based on experience, plus signing bonus.

• Health, dental, and vision insurance.

• Paid time off and holidays.

• Retirement plan with company match.

• Opportunity to play a key role in a growing construction business.
