ABOUT THE ROLE...


The Metal Foundry Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and overseeing manufacturing processes within a metal foundry environment. This role ensures the efficient production of metal castings by implementing process improvements, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining quality standards. The engineer collaborates with production teams, maintenance staff, and quality assurance personnel to maximize throughput and minimize defects.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement process improvements for metal casting operations to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Monitor daily foundry operations, analyze production data, and identify opportunities for cost savings and productivity gains.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Lead root cause analyses for process failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Evaluate and specify equipment, materials, and tooling for manufacturing processes.
  • Train and mentor production staff on new processes, technologies, and safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in metal foundry operations or process engineering (typically 2+ years preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with casting techniques, mold design, and furnace operation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

The Metal Foundry Process Engineer works in an industrial setting, frequently interacting with production equipment and materials. Occasional travel may be required for training or supplier visits. Safety awareness and adherence to protocols are essential in this role.
