What is Type


We're building the future of multiplayer collaboration in the agentic AI era.


Type lets companies create AI teammates for marketing, sales, support, and ops. These aren't chatbots, they're shared agents with their own computer, integrations, and skills, operating alongside humans as real teammates. 


We're a small, distributed team of tinkerers, builders, and creatives with hubs in NYC and SF. We previously built collaborative products at Stripe, Airbnb, Atlassian, and Twitter. We're backed by leading investors and our customers range from e-commerce brands to vertical SaaS companies to data infrastructure platforms.


Why this role, why now


We've found product-market fit and are seeing customers land and quickly expand to multiple departments and use cases. We're hiring a founding marketer that reports directly to the CEO to turn that signal into a repeatable growth engine.


What you'll own


You'll be marketer #1. That means you set the strategy, run the experiments, build the systems, and report the numbers. 


In practice you will:


Test: Run experiments across every channel that could work: events, paid, content, social, partnerships, lifecycle. Move fast, kill what doesn't work, double down on what does.

Build: Stand up the growth stack. Pick the tools, wire up the integrations, build the AI-powered workflows that let one marketer do the work of a small team.

Measure: Own the dashboard. Know which channel is working, which isn't, and why. Report weekly to the CEO.

Evolve: Shape product messaging, positioning, and brand as we learn what resonates with each customer segment.

Learn: Compress the learning loop. Whoever learns fastest, wins.


What success looks like in 6 months


• A clear answer to "where do our best customers come from?" backed by data

• At least 2 channels producing repeatable, predictable pipeline

• A growth operating cadence the rest of the team plugs into (weekly experiments, monthly reviews, quarterly strategy)


Who you are


• Track record of driving growth at an early-stage startup, ideally as one of the first marketing hires, or as a founder yourself

• Hands-on operator: comfortable with marketing platforms, ads systems, analytics tools, and quick to learn whatever's needed

• AI-native: you're already using LLMs, agents, and AI tools to multiply your output, and you have opinions about which ones are actually good

• Experimentation mindset: you'd rather ship five small bets this week than one big bet next quarter

• Strong writer: you can draft a landing page, a tweet thread, and a customer case study without needing a brief

• Comfortable with ambiguity: you don't need a fully-formed strategy handed to you


Who you're probably not


• A brand-only marketer who hands execution to an agency or team

• A pure strategist who builds decks but doesn't ship

• Someone who needs a team of marketers working under them to be productive


Compensation & benefits


• $170k–$210k base salary, 0.25-.5% equity
