Position Announcement/Description Midland Center for the Arts Midland, MI Position Title: Food & Beverage Steward / Dish Tank Super visor: Food & Beverage Manager / Executive Chef Classification: Part Time Casual – 1-19 hours per week Last Updated: March 2026 Position Concept: The Food & Beverage Team provides guest focused hospitality supporting community connection & engagement. Under the supervision of the Executive Chef & Food & Beverage Manager, this position - Food & Beverage Kitchen Steward / Dish Tank position will work alongside the Executive Chef maintaining the duties of a fully functioning Banquet Kitchen to support in executing exceptional & professional hospitality service to guests of The Midland Center for the Arts . Duties include but not limited to food & dish tra nsport, operating wash, rinse & sanitize station , buffet, bar & concession service support , dish and flatware polishing, event setup & teardown, stocking & upholding all sanitization requirements. Please check our website at www.midlandcenter.org \employment for these related opportunities: Food & Beverage Service Attendant DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: • Report for assigned shifts on time, appropriately clocking in & out through proper channels, dressed neatly & appropriately • Maintain a positive, team & guest focused attitude • Transport food & dishes between service areas • Operate pre -rinse station, load, run & unload dishwasher with utensils, glassware, cookware, flatware, plates, trays, in a safe, organized & efficient manner • Ensure all items are properly cleaned & sanitized prior to storage and/or use • Polishing, drying & transporting dishes in accordance with expected procedure • Clean & maintain kitchen appliances & tools as necessary • Assist with laundering rags & linens • Maintain, organize, sort & ensure proper process for recycling & other waste materials • Support other kitchen staff members by assisting with other tasks as needed - including routine kitchen cleaning & occasional food prep -work • Handle all tools, equipment & food with a high level of respect • Adhere to all safety, sanitary & quality laws, regulations & best practice • Willingness to participate in additional cleaning, organization, dish & deep cleaning duties on a consistent rotating basis – additional needs as they arise due to ongoing renovation • Attend all mandatory assigned training sessions • Adhere to all Midland Center for the Arts policies ; including but not limited to conduct, breaks, time clock procedures & overall expectations • Maintain a willingness to learn, improve & collaborate as a team member while interacting with all Center guests & staff in a respectful and professional manner PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: • Strong work ethic preferred • Prior job experience not required • Physical ability to carry and lift 50lbs • Physical ability to stand or walk during the entirety of a scheduled shift • Ability & willingness to work in a fast -paced kitchen environment while maintaining professionalism & composure • Willingness to learn & grow • Ability to adapt to changes while completing multiple duties & assigned tasks simultaneously • Ability to adapt to changes within the organization – especially as they apply to ongoing renovation • Basic Kitchen equipment & tool knowledge preferred but not required o Kitchen equipment & tools used may include but not limited to the following items : Kitchen Knives, Slicer, Mandolin, Mixer, Oven, Stove Top Burner, Grill, Flat Top, Transportation Carts, Immersion Circulators, Dishwasher, Heat Lamps, etc. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT ● Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs ● Must be able to move easily up and down stairs ● Must be able to remain standing or walking during the entirety of an 8+ hour scheduled shift * not including observed breaks ● Ability & availability to work a variable schedule including evenings, weekends & some holidays to meet operational needs ● Ability to understand, retain and apply proper safety & sanitization procedures & best practice ● Implement proper safety & practice when working with chemical detergents & cleaning supplies ● Serve Safe certification may be required after 1 year of employment ○ *Training provided by The Center* ● Must be able to follow written & verbal direction from management ● Must be able to work well with other team members ● Black non -slip footwear required for all shifts ● Minimum age requirement is 16 years old ○ Work permit required for all applicants under the age of 18 APPLICATION INFORMATION Email cover letter and resume to: hr@midlandcenter.org siegel@midlandcenter.org rhadley@midlandcenter.org
