Job Title: Flexographic Press Operator
Job Description

The Flexographic Press Operator sets up, adjusts, operates, and maintains flexographic press equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, deep knowledge of flexographic printing processes, and the ability to perform precise make-ready, color correction, and routine maintenance to meet exacting quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain flexographic press equipment to produce printed materials according to job specifications.
  • Perform all make-ready tasks for the press, including mounting plates or installing print cylinders and examining them for imperfections.
  • Check and verify correct positioning of images on plates and cylinders before production.
  • Prepare and configure web paths, making accurate and complex web path adjustments as required.
  • Adjust web tension and register settings to ensure proper alignment and consistent print quality.
  • Make necessary color corrections and anilox adjustments prior to and during production runs to meet quality specifications.
  • Monitor print quality throughout the run and make press adjustments as needed to maintain standards.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press on a regular basis to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform minor repairs and replace worn or broken parts on press equipment as required.
  • Carry out periodic maintenance recommended by equipment manufacturers.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of printing procedures, materials, specifications, and equipment capabilities to determine appropriate press usage and settings.
  • Read and interpret job specifications accurately to determine materials, press settings, and production requirements.
  • Use basic computer applications, including Excel, Word, and Google tools, to support production documentation and communication.
  • Operate or support operation of related equipment such as RFID machines, Aztek rewinder machines, ABG die cutting machines, and Lemo presses, as applicable.
  • Follow all safety requirements and best practices while operating and maintaining equipment in a production environment.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of thorough experience with flexographic printing procedures, materials, specifications, and equipment.
  • Proven experience operating flexographic printing presses and related press equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine operational maintenance and minor repairs on press equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply detailed job specifications to determine press settings, materials, and production requirements.
  • Skill in setting up and adjusting complex web paths and making precise web path adjustments.
  • Proficiency in making color corrections and anilox adjustments to maintain print quality.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements related to printing press operation and maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Excel, Word, and Google applications (preferred).
  • Experience with flexographic presses such as Aquaflex, Comco, and Webtron (preferred).
  • Experience operating RFID machines or RFID-related equipment (strongly preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Aquaflex, Comco, and Webtron flexographic presses.
  • Experience with RFID machines and RFID software.
  • Experience with label printing software.
  • Experience operating Aztek rewinder machines.
  • Experience operating ABG die cutting machines.
  • Experience operating Lemo presses.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain equipment through periodic manufacturer-recommended maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in print production.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled, larger production facility designed for comfort and consistency throughout the workday. The environment includes flexographic printing presses and related equipment such as RFID machines, Aztek rewinder machines, ABG die cutting machines, and Lemo presses, as well as computers running standard office software for documentation and communication. The facility emphasizes safety, organization, and reliable equipment performance to support efficient, high-quality production.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Oakdale, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $83000.00/yr.

The total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and stand-by pay. This company offers benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with match, life insurance, and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus tuition assistance, maternity leave, adoption assistance, and employer/partner discounts.They are willing to relocate someone for 5K.
