Job Title: Boat Assembly Installer
Job Description

This role focuses on installing and assembling key components in boats within a large manufacturing facility. You work from drawings and specifications to build the front, middle, and back sections of each boat, using power and non-power hand tools. The position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and the initiative to learn and operate various equipment and processes while contributing to a high-quality production line.

Responsibilities

  • Install a variety of components in boats, including work on the front, middle, and back sections, within a large manufacturing facility.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams to complete installation tasks accurately.
  • Use pneumatic drills and drivers to install bow platforms, livewells, seat hardware, fuel lines, navigational lights, and wiring harnesses.
  • Transfer fuel tanks into the interior of the boat, secure them to bulkheads, and install associated fuel lines, control cables, and steering mechanisms.
  • Install consoles, windshields, operating controls, wiring harnesses, seat hardware, and accessories using pneumatic tools.
  • Install control cables, steering mechanisms, seat hardware, fuel lines, bilge pumps, navigational lights, and wiring harnesses according to specifications.
  • Trim, cut, and glue carpet and vinyl to specified areas of the boat.
  • Complete required production documentation for finished boats accurately and on time.
  • Prepare boats for transfer to the next department, ensuring all assigned tasks are complete and components are properly installed.
  • Move boats or parts out of the work area to the rigging area using carts or other designated methods.
  • Apply high energy, self-motivation, and initiative to learn and be trained on various types of equipment and processes.
  • Work safely and efficiently at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs., and traveling up and down stairs on a frequent basis.
  • Sit, squat, bend, and work in various awkward positions, including overhead work, for extended periods as required by the tasks.
  • Travel in and out of work areas and remain on your feet for the majority of the workday while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams.
  • Proficiency using power and non-power hand tools in a manufacturing or installation environment.
  • Experience using pneumatic drills and drivers for installation tasks.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in roles such as cleaning and painting, cleanroom technician, grounds maintenance janitor, or installation.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
  • Comfort working at heights on platforms and traveling up and down stairs frequently.
  • Ability to work in various positions including sitting, squatting, bending, and working overhead for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following specifications and completing documentation.
  • Self-motivation, high energy, and initiative to learn new equipment and processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in general labor, cleaning and painting, cleanroom environments, grounds maintenance, janitorial work, or installation.
  • Background in a large manufacturing or production facility.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and coordinate tasks with other departments.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large boat manufacturing facility, working primarily on the production floor. The standard shift runs from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, providing a consistent daytime schedule with long weekends. You regularly use pneumatic drills, drivers, and other power and non-power hand tools while working from specifications and schematic drawings. The role is physically active and requires being on your feet for most of the day, lifting parts up to 50 lbs., climbing stairs frequently, working on elevated platforms, and performing tasks in various positions, including overhead work, sitting, squatting, and bending. You move boats and parts using carts and prepare units for transfer between departments in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

This is a Contract position based out of New York Mills, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
