Position Summary

The Financial Controller is a key leadership role within UEP’s Finance team. This mid-to-senior level position oversees core accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. The Controller acts as a strategic partner to finance leadership and business units, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while driving process improvements and operational efficiency. This role reports to the Director of Finance.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Manage fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Provide variance analysis and insightful commentary to leadership.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting (SOX or equivalent if applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS, tax regulations, and local statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes and leverage technology/ERP systems.
  • Support system implementations or upgrades as needed.

Strategic Support

  • Provide financial analysis and decision support for business initiatives, cost optimization, and special projects.
  • Partner with operational teams on financial matters.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.

Experience

  • 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or industry environment.
  • Prior experience in a Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role.
  • Experience in the [industry/sector relevant to UEP — e.g., energy, manufacturing, services] is a plus.
  • Proven track record managing a team and financial close processes.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with big-picture thinking.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) andadvanced Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial concept to non-finance stakeholders.
  • High integrity and sound business judgment.
