Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for available for a Finance Manager located out of our Bloomington, MN corporate headquarters.  The Finance Manager is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting function, including month-end close activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The successful candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and strong communication skills to work cross-functionally with other departments.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Lead and manage all month-end close activities, including timely preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting, including GAAP and statutory financial reporting.
  • Research accounting pronouncements and develop company policies for new, changing, or existing business transactions.
  • Responsible for submitting monthly and quarterly reporting to IDQ’s parent company, Berkshire Hathaway.
  • Lead the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of audit requests.
  • Lead the preparation of International Dairy Queen, subsidiaries and retirement savings plan annual reports.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help team members grow and achieve their goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and other service providers.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address accounting-related issues or opportunities to standardize and streamline processes.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and provide insight into financial performance through variance and trend analysis.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, including the development of financial models, analysis of key financial metrics, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast and provide insights and recommendations to drive business decisions.
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in the finance and accounting function.

The US national base salary range for this position is $115,037 - $143,796. This position is also eligible for a bonus. The base salary range displayed reflects the targeted hiring range for positions across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, work location and relevant education or experience.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent years of experience required; Master’s degree or CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Public accounting experience required.
  • Proven track record of managing month-end close processes, financial reporting, and budgeting and forecasting activities.

Skills:

  • Strong technical accounting skills with experience implementing accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Positive attitude with strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and ERP systems.

Work Environment

Most positions located out of our global headquarters in Bloomington, MN will work a hybrid work schedule where you will work 3 collaboration days a week.  Additional in office time may be required to support team/project needs.
