Position: Finance Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The finance director will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $8+ million including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, as well as significant engagement with grants administration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial oversight and strategic support for City of Cleveland programs, including but not limited to the Tool Loan Program, Housing Counseling Services, and Furnace Replacement program.
- Maintain internal controls and processes regarding revenue and expenditures.
- Review all approved applications to ensure appropriate program placement and ensure audit readiness.
- Analyze financial data, cash flow, present financial reports, and monitor progress and changes.
- Participate in annual budgeting and planning process.
- Engage the board’s audit and finance committees.
- Manage insurance coverage and other benefits administration as appropriate.
- Serve as a member of the management team on grant accounting and reporting
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications around financial management with staff at all levels throughout the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, sense of humor and unwavering commitment to Community Housing Solutions’ (CHS) mission
- Proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own the responsibility for CHS.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (accounting, finance)
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting
- Strong background in non-profit management
- Experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll
- Experience in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants
- Technology savvy, including advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including attentiveness to cultural needs and differences.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefits laws and government compliance
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires 40 hours per work week. Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally. Office is open 8:30 – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
SALARY: $100,000 - $115,000
