About the Role

A growing power systems manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical transformers and related equipment at customer sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in electrical equipment, power distribution systems, or industrial maintenance who enjoys technical field work, problem-solving, and working directly with customers. The role combines electrical diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and technical support across medium- and high-voltage transformer systems.

You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair transformers and associated electrical equipment
  • Conduct routine testing, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults and implement corrective actions
  • Perform transformer testing including insulation resistance, ratio testing, and related diagnostics
  • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documentation
  • Prepare detailed service reports documenting findings, repairs, and test results
  • Provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance
  • Support warranty investigations, failure analysis, and root cause evaluations
  • Maintain service tools, testing equipment, and company vehicles
  • Travel extensively to customer sites across domestic locations, with occasional international travel as required

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent hands-on field experience will also be considered
  • 3+ years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, transformer service, or electrical equipment support
  • Experience working with medium- or high-voltage systems highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and power distribution equipment
  • Ability to perform electrical testing and transformer diagnostics
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with transformer components such as windings, bushings, tap changers, and cooling systems
  • Comfortable using electrical testing and diagnostic tools
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
