The Faculty Professional Development Coordinator is a key resource for enhancing teaching effectiveness and student success across the college. This position plays a critical role in supporting full-time, adjunct, and part-time instructional faculty in adopting, implementing, and assessing evidence-based teaching strategies and thoughtfully integrating digital learning technologies to create engaging, accessible, and effective student learning experiences. The coordinator works collaboratively with department colleagues to design, implement, and manage the college’s program of professional development that promotes pedagogical excellence, innovation in teaching, and equitable student outcomes.

Program Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with department colleagues, develop, coordinate, and facilitate institutes, retreats, workshops, certifications, and ongoing training sessions for faculty focused on effective, equitable, and evidence-based teaching and learning practices (e.g., active learning, inclusive pedagogy, universal design, assessment design)

  • Consult individually and in small groups with faculty to provide confidential support, feedback, and resources to improve course design, instructional delivery, and student engagement

  • Promote and support the development of learning environments that are equitable, diverse, and inclusive

  • Curate and develop resources (e.g., online micro-courses, guides, toolkits) to support faculty self-paced professional growth

  • Deliver instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online


Digital Learning and Instructional Technology Integration

  • Provide pedagogical leadership on the effective integration of digital learning technologies and coordinate with the department’s Learning Technology Facilitators to align faculty training, learning management system (LMS) practices, and instructional design approaches with evidence-based teaching and learning goals

  • Support the department’s Digital Accessibility Advocate in advising, training, and development of faculty on the design and implementation of effective multimodal learning experiences that serve diverse learning needs and comply with digital accessibility requirements

  • Support the department’s Media Technical Coordinator in the thoughtful and pedagogically appropriate production of instructional media

  • Stay current with emerging trends, tools, and research in educational technology and digital pedagogy relevant to the community college environment


Program Development and Assessment

  • Design and execute a comprehensive, needs-based faculty development program aligned with the college's strategic goals for teaching and learning

  • Develop assessment methods to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of professional development activities on teaching quality and student outcomes

  • Collaborate with academic leadership to identify institutional teaching and learning needs and develop targeted interventions


Professional Relationships

  • Cultivate trusting, non-evaluative, and collaborative educator development relationships with faculty across all disciplines

  • Partner with other campus units (e.g., IT, Library, Student Services) to ensure a cohesive and well-supported learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with department staff and faculty to meet department goals

  • Serve as liaison with faculty college departments and statewide groups and committees as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant area of study (psychology, communications, education/instructional design, TESOL)

-AND-

One year experience teaching in secondary or post-secondary settings

-AND-

Two (2) or more years’ experience in instructional design, faculty development, or educational consulting

-AND-

Experience teaching in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant area of study (psychology, communications, education/instructional design, TESOL)

  • Two (2) or more years’ experience teaching in a post-secondary setting

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 100%, 11-month faculty assignment of the 192 duty day band and grade
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested, you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work:Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light work if frequent walking and/or standing is required.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS

Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
