Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Palo Alto, CA (Local candidates only – Onsite)
Pay Rate: $40–45/hr + Weekly Pay + Medical Benefits
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, flexible start/end times)
Contract: Long-term ongoing contract – no set end date (based on performance)
About the Client
Our client is a public American software company specializing in big data analytics. Their technology helps organizations solve complex problems across cybersecurity, healthcare, government, and enterprise operations. The Facilities team is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support ongoing maintenance, repairs, and daily operations within a commercial office environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on facilities work, can work independently, and has experience across commercial electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair work across facility systems, equipment, and building infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial lighting, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry-related issues
- Install, replace, and repair commercial lighting fixtures and related electrical components
- Support ongoing maintenance of office interiors, furniture, doors, cabinets, shelving, and building fixtures
- Perform basic commercial plumbing troubleshooting and repairs including sinks, toilets, faucets, drains, and water lines
- Conduct facility inspections and proactively identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Support HVAC-related maintenance coordination and general building operations
- Manage and monitor ticketing/work order systems using CMMS tools
- Coordinate with and manage onsite vendors, contractors, and service providers
- Support onsite office events including setup, teardown, and operational support
- Maintain safe working conditions and follow all safety procedures and compliance requirements
- Support after-hours building needs, emergency maintenance, and occasional overtime/on-call situations
- Assist with additional facility-related projects and operational needs as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years of facilities or maintenance experience within commercial office, corporate office, apartment complex, or commercial property management, or hospitality environments
- Residential-only maintenance experience will not qualify
- Strong hands-on experience independently performing maintenance and repair work yourself
- Commercial electrical troubleshooting experience including: 208V 277V 408V
- Understanding of electrical safety and basic commercial electrical troubleshooting (not full electrician work unless licensed)
- Carpentry experience including: Door repairs Cabinet repairs Shelving installation/repair Furniture repairs Measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing fixtures
- Some plumbing troubleshooting and repair experience including: Sinks Toilets Faucets
- Experience safely using hand and power tools including saws, drills, hammers, and levels
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and ability to learn ticketing/work order systems
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and climb ladders up to 30 ft
- Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and occasional overtime/emergency support
- Clear standard background check required
