Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Position Overview

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist will lead environmental compliance and safety initiatives within a fast-paced industrial coating and manufacturing environment. This role places a strong emphasis on environmental program ownership, including regulatory reporting, permitting, and hazardous waste management, while continuing to support overall plant safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage environmental reports, including TRI, Tier II, and other regulatory filings
• Serve as the primary liaison with local, state, and federal environmental agencies
• Lead efforts related to environmental permitting, renewals, and compliance
• Manage and maintain the facility’s hazardous waste program, including storage, handling, and disposal
• Oversee environmental sampling and testing (air, water, waste streams), ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Support and lead regulatory inspections, audits, and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with EPA and applicable state environmental regulations
• Support implementation of OSHA-compliant safety programs and procedures
• Maintain documentation related to safety compliance and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred
• 3–5+ years of experience in environmental compliance within manufacturing, industrial, or chemical environments
• Hands-on experience with environmental reporting, permitting and regulatory compliance, and hazardous waste program management
• Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and managing corrective actions
• Understanding of environmental sampling, testing, and data interpretation
• Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations
