Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Position Summary

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading site-wide environmental, health, safety, and process safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and support a zero-incident workplace. This role partners closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in safety, environmental stewardship, emergency preparedness, and operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all site EHS programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements.
  • Maintain and improve Process Safety Management (PSM) systems, including audits, PHAs, corrective actions, and regulatory inspections.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver EHS training programs, onboarding, and ongoing employee development initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead emergency response preparedness efforts, including ERT coordination, drills, contingency planning, and community emergency response engagement.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including waste management, stormwater monitoring, emissions reporting, and environmental inspections.
  • Oversee safety committees, contractor safety programs, industrial hygiene initiatives, and site security processes.
  • Develop and manage EHS operating and capital budgets while supporting site improvement projects.
  • Maintain ISO compliance, document control systems, and quality management requirements.
  • Serve as a key advisor to plant leadership, driving continuous improvement and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading EHS programs within a manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or process-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, emergency response, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead training initiatives and influence safety performance across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS-related management systems.

  • Demonstrated success building strong safety cultures and driving measurable improvements in EHS performance.
  • Experience managing regulatory inspections and interactions with local emergency response agencies.
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on field engagement and employee coaching.
