As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.
Home Lending Servicing currently has an opportunity to be a member of the Home Lending Servicing leadership team. This senior leader will lead a team of risk professionals in providing input and oversight into the change management process. The successful candidate will be dedicated to understanding credit policies, strategies, regulations, and investor guidelines to ensure that they are implemented accurately in Home Lending Servicing. The leader will also be responsible for establishing partnerships with Independent Risk Management partners to understand and help aggregate operational and compliance risks into risk aggregation reporting.Specifically this individual will be responsible for leading a team that will:
- Build partnership across Independent Risk Management to understand, identify, and support the aggregation of risks within Home Lending Servicing
- Engage with Senior Leaders across Risk, Servicing, Legal, Compliance, and Control to develop a solid understanding of current credit policies and strategies, regulations, and investor guidelines as well as proposed changes across all Home Lending portfolios including Serviced for Others, Wells Owned Mortgage and Home Equity and across all areas of Servicing including loss mitigation, liquidation, collections, foreclosure, REO, bankruptcy, loss recognition, and performing servicing.
- Engage with business partners to understand processes and controls and identify and mitigate operational risks
- Partner with the line of business to understand how changes are being reflected in technology, tools, procedures, processes and business requirements to ensure all aspects of the policy and strategies are being accurately implemented.
- Credibly challenge the business and influence partners and escalate when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other credit policy SME’s on impact assessments and questions from the business to provide timely resolution on requests.
- Understand regulations and investor guidance to ensure we comply.
- Make recommendations and credibly challenge to improve programs and execution.
- Support automation of mortgage servicing by ensuring accurate translation of policy and strategy requirements into technology.

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management
- 3+ years of management experience

- Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

Other Desired Qualifications - Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (both written and verbal) with business partners, peers and senior management and lead discussions.
- Knowledge of the HL Change Control process.
- Subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas: loss recognition, foreclosure, REO, bankruptcy, performing servicing (taxes, payments, escrow etc), retention, modifications, and liquidations.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, aggregate, and challenge risks – balancing the impact to customers, business, and bank.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction, exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles
- Ability to assess potential impacts to credit loss and credit policy
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to thoroughly research and analyze options and impacts of solutions
- Proficiency in servicing systems and applicable tools
- Servicing or collections experience for consumer mortgage products
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and think strategically across multiple portfolios/investors from an end to end servicing view
