Job Description:

Client is seeking an experienced Project Manager (Engineering) to support the Processing Controls Engineering group within the Gas organization. This role will manage multiple capital projects across the natural gas transmission and distribution system, with a focus on facilities and station projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, and execution while coordinating cross‑functional teams and external contractors.

This is a highly collaborative, process‑driven role operating within structured 7‑stage gate project management framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage 6–8 capital projects annually, with individual project values ranging from $300K to $2.5M
  • Oversee projects throughout the full lifecycle:
  • Year 1: Engineering and permitting
  • Year 2: Construction and close‑out
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of execution
  • Own scope, schedule, and budget tracking across assigned projects
  • Coordinate internal cross‑functional teams including:
  • Project Engineers
  • Project Controls
  • Schedulers
  • Cost Analysts
  • Lead cross‑functional team (CFT) meetings and contractor coordination
  • Manage forecasting, accruals, estimating, and overall financial tracking
  • Support Stage Gate reviews and present project updates to leadership
  • Oversee engineering, construction, commissioning, and close‑out activities
  • Participate in occasional field activities, including:
  • Site walks
  • Project kickoffs
  • Constructability reviews
  • Approximately 3 site observations per month

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management experience, preferably within the natural gas utility space
  • Experience managing utility or LDC transmission and distribution projects
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Scope management
  • Schedule control
  • Capital project budgeting
  • Demonstrated experience with financial forecasting, estimating, and accruals
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present project information to leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and internal business partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in gas facilities and station projects
  • Experience working for utilities or LDCs
  • PMP certification (preferred, not required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (may substitute for PMP in some cases)
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6
  • Technical engineering background
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and exposure to SAP
