Emergency Medical Services Instructor - GRANT FUNDED

The EMT-Paramedic Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs, including EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic levels. This role includes classroom, lab, and clinical instruction, as well as administrative duties related to accreditation, data collection, and program compliance. Instructor will be assigned to teach at varied times and locations based on student demand.

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING FROM THE GRANT. In accordance with the provisions of the Students First Act, ACT 2011-270, non-probationary status is not attainable by virtue of employment in this position, the funding and duration of which are finite.

Position will work in the Prattville and Alexander City service areas.
  1. Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System and Central Alabama Community College.
  2. Teaches EMS courses in accordance with CoAEMSP and NREMT standards.
  1. Delivers engaging lectures, hands-on labs, and simulation-based training.
  2. Oversees students clinical and field internships requirements.
  3. Evaluates student performance and provide timely feedback.
  4. Maintains accurate student records, including clinical hours and competencies
  5. Assists with data collection and reporting for annual reports and site visits.
  6. Participates in curriculum development and program review.
  7. Ensures compliance with Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Office of EMS regulations.
  8. Assists in scheduling and coordinating clinical and field placements.
  9. Participates in faculty meetings and professional development.
  10. Supports student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives.
  11. Serves on college committees as assigned.
  12. Adheres to local, state and federal policies and procedures.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
  1. Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related from a regionally accredited institution is required;
  2. Unencumbered current Alabama paramedic license is required.
  3. Three (3) years of field experience as paramedic is required.
  4. EMS Instructor certification (e.g., NAEMSE, AHA Instructor for BLS/ACLS/PALS) is required.
  5. Knowledge of CoAEMSP accreditation standards and NREMT testing requirements is required.
  6. Ability to travel to and from all campus locations and attend activities and events in designated areas as assigned is required.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple priorities is required.
  8. Ability to apply problem solving and prioritization skills with minimum supervision is required.
  9. Excellent functional knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
  10. Ability to search, locate, read, interpret, and apply policy and standards is required.
  11. Ability to read, interpret and apply data is required.
  12. Experience in a community college or higher education environment is preferred.

Failure to Provide Required Documentation:

Failure to provide official transcripts and/or employer verification letters within the required timeframe may result in one or more of the following actions, at the sole discretion of the College:

  • Placement on unpaid administrative leave until documentation is received;
  • Reduction in salary to reflect only the verified education and experience on file;
  • Suspension without pay until compliance is achieved;
  • Termination of employment for failure to satisfy a condition of employment.


Process and Notice:

Employees may receive written notice and extensions beyond ten (10) business days may be granted at the College’s discretion but neither is required before any action is taken under this policy.
