ELM MicroGrid is seeking a motivated, entry-level Power Systems Electrical Engineer to support the design, testing, commissioning, and ongoing support of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) product lines.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of electrical power systems and a desire to develop expertise in power distribution, energy storage, and microgrid technologies. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers while contributing to innovative energy solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Assist with electrical system design and analysis for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems
  • Support the development and review of electrical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
  • Participate in equipment selection, system studies, and project execution activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, field service, and project management
  • Provide technical support for field installations and commissioning activities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internship and co-op experience encouraged)
  • Basic understanding of electrical power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, grounding, and protection concepts
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and IEEE standards is preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred
  • Exposure to power system analysis software such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise in power systems and energy storage technologies
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed
