MEP Electrical Engineer

About the Role
HC Solutions Group is partnering with a well-established, mission-driven architecture and engineering firm to identify an MEP Electrical Engineer for its Austin office. The MEP Electrical Engineer will support the design and coordination of electrical systems across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on education, healthcare, and civic environments. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong current experience in electrical engineering within an MEP consulting firm who enjoys working in a collaborative, integrated design environment.

Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
- Perform engineering calculations including load analysis, short circuit, and coordination studies
- Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate closely with internal architecture, mechanical, and plumbing teams for integrated design delivery
- Support projects from schematic design through construction administration
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and participate in site visits
- Ensure compliance with NEC, energy codes, and applicable standards
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
- Contribute to efficient, reliable, and sustainable electrical system solutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong current experience in electrical engineering within an MEP consulting environment
- EIT required; PE preferred or actively progressing toward licensure
- Experience designing building electrical systems for education, healthcare, commercial, or civic projects preferred
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design tools
- Strong understanding of NEC and applicable building codes
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
