Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer (Manufacturing Environment)
Location: Georgetown, KY 40324 Onsite
Duration: 12-Month Contract with Possibility of Extension
Travel: Approximately 10% international travel (Canada and Mexico)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support multiple manufacturing and industrial facility projects. This is a fully onsite role requiring strong project management, electrical engineering, and industrial power systems expertise. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with contractors, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and skilled trades to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate project feasibility, scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Develop project scopes of work, bid packages, and technical specifications.
- Review technical drawings, provide engineering feedback, and negotiate design changes.
- Evaluate electrical power systems and ensure compliance with applicable local and national electrical codes.
- Coordinate with third-party safety compliance consultants and contractors.
- Analyze power distribution systems, breaker sizing, amp draw, SCCR requirements, and panel loading.
- Specify and validate electrical components for industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, install, and commission equipment while meeting project milestones.
- Supervise contractors in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
- Coordinate installation activities with skilled trades, affiliate organizations, engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans to address project risks and delays.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects from planning through execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Trade Certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience developing bid specifications and negotiating with contractors.
- Minimum 2 years of experience interpreting technical drawings.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with industrial power distribution and electrical system design.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety and compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- Experience managing projects in automotive manufacturing environments.
- Automotive paint process experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Ability to analyze and calculate utility costs.
- Understanding of PLC programming and operation, including:
- Toyopuc
- Omron
- Allen-Bradley
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks, including:
- FLNet
- EtherNet/IP
- Understanding of OT/IT networking concepts.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E and NFPA 77 standards.
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification.
