We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer / Drafter to support custom mechanical design efforts across complex engineering programs. This is a multifunctional role focused on transforming requirements into detailed mechanical designs, drawings, and documentation while working closely with internal teams and external manufacturers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Generate detailed mechanical drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Materials
  • Design, model, and prototype mechanical components and assemblies for test and measurement solutions
  • Gather requirements and develop specifications for custom mechanical designs
  • Interface with contract manufacturers and external suppliers
  • Produce complete design documentation packages for fabrication and build
  • Support projects through the full design lifecycle, including travel as needed (up to ~25%, domestic and international)


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a mechanical drafting or mechanical design role
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience using CREO (highly proficient)
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals and processes
  • Advanced experience with 2D and 3D CAD tools (CREO, Pro/E, SolidWorks)
  • Proficient in GD&T principles
  • Proven experience creating highly detailed drawings and design documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with external suppliers
  • US Person (US Citizen or Green Card holder) with ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD clearances


Nice to Have

  • Experience with fixture and tool design
  • Exposure to thermal and stress analysis
  • Familiarity with FMEA and RCCA methodologies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods (machining, sheet metal, casting, stamping, extrusion, etc.)
  • Understanding of ESD principles
  • Basic electrical design knowledge (grounding, shielding, cable design)
