Job Title: Disassembly Technician

Job Description

The Disassembly Technician will be responsible for disassembling compressor packages, piping systems, and components for shipment according to work instructions and specifications. This role requires reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings to safely remove piping, tubing, valves, and mechanical components for transport. The technician will tag, label, and organize parts to ensure proper identification and reassembly at the destination, while also protecting open lines and components from contamination or damage.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble compressor packages, piping systems, and components for shipment according to work instructions and specifications.
  • Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Safely remove piping, tubing, valves, and mechanical components for transport.
  • Tag, label, and organize parts to ensure proper identification and reassembly at the destination.
  • Cap, plug, and protect open lines and components to prevent contamination or damage.
  • Prepare equipment and components for shipping, including securing and staging materials.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform disassembly tasks.
  • Perform millwright-type work including mechanical disassembly, alignment awareness, and handling of rotating equipment.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to move and position components (as trained).
  • Inspect components for damage and report any issues prior to shipment.
  • Complete required documentation related to disassembly and shipping preparation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE and LOTO requirements.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training.
  • Comply with and promote all company PPE requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of mechanical or industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical disassembly or manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
  • Basic ability to read blueprints or technical drawings preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with rigging and overhead crane operation required (certification preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical and millwright aptitude.
  • Experience with natural gas compressor packages, production, hydraulics, repair, industrial power tools, mechanical assembly, welding, rigging, and material handling.

Work Environment

This is a loud, dusty, and fast-paced industrial environment. The facility is not climate-controlled, and the role requires working Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with half-shift overtime on Saturdays when needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Weirton, WV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
