Within Franciscan, the Director of Surgical Services provides strategic direction and operational oversight of a department, and is responsible for conducting inpatient and outpatient Perioperative Services. This vital role develops strategic plans, implements new programs, identifies short and long-term goals in congruence with hospital and department goals, and enforces overall standards of care. This position, also, monitors the effectiveness of the patient care delivery system, and revises as needed.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Coordinate processes with physicians, nurses, department heads or other healthcare professionals to align interdepartmental functioning, strategic goals, and expectations of patient care and team behavior.

  • Evaluate the quality of patient care provided by department staff by using standards of practice, patient outcomes and other quality indicators, to include peer review, incident reports, use of policies and procedures, evaluation of equipment, supplies and products.

  • Provide expert input and collaborate with other Healthcare professionals, to ensure appropriate resources are available for department performance improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other departments within the hospital to align interdepartmental functioning, goals, and expectations.

  • Lead projects or assignments to implement strategies that will offer a leading edge to the organization.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing - Required

  • Master's Degree Nursing or Business administration - Preferred

  • 6 years Surgery - Preferred

  • 3 years successful management/supervisory - Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensing Board Indiana - Required
