Director of Surgical Services

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Interim Director of OR Services to lead the assessment, stabilization, and optimization of perioperative operations. This role will partner with executive, clinical, and operational leadership to improve OR performance, enhance accountability, drive cultural transformation, and establish sustainable operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operational assessment and improvement of OR/Perioperative services
• Evaluate and optimize throughput, block utilization, case flow, staffing models, and scheduling
• Improve operational efficiency, resource utilization, and financial performance
• Assess team dynamics, accountability, and leadership effectiveness
• Address performance, behavioral, and cultural challenges
• Develop and implement standardized workflows, expectations, and governance structures
• Partner with physicians, anesthesia, nursing, HR, and executive leadership
• Provide coaching, change management, and conflict resolution support
• Deliver recommendations for future-state organizational design and leadership structure

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as an OR Director, Perioperative Director, or equivalent leadership role
• Experience leading operational turnarounds and performance improvement initiatives
• Strong physician partnership and stakeholder management experience
• Experience with Cerner
• Expertise in OR operations, block scheduling, throughput, staffing, and resource management
• Strong leadership, coaching, and change management skills
• Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• RN, CRNA, or other clinical leadership background
• 5+ years of relevant clinical experience
• Pediatric and/or disability services experience preferred
• Demonstrated success improving OR utilization, efficiency, and performance metrics
