Position: Director (RN) Surgical Services

Location : Missoula, MT

Status/FTE: FT / 1.0

Shift length: 8 hours

Start Time: 0700

Unit: Surgical Services

Schedule Requirements (including weekends, holidays): May need to work occasional weekends/holidays

Salary : $150,000/yr -$165,000/yr plus benefits , sign on bonus , relocation assistance

Required qualifications:

  • Current state RN license
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider upon hire
  • PALS and ACLS within six (6) months of hire
  • Five (5) years' experience as a Surgical Services RN and as a leader at the Manager or Director level

Position Summary:

The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the direction of the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Other duties include: Developing and implementing goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical objective of the organization. Directing and evaluating departmental operations including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Planning and monitoring staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Preparing, monitoring, and evaluating departmental budgets, and ensuring that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinating and directing internal/external audits. The Director of Surgical Services is expected to have regular and reliable attendance.


Additional Information/Department information: The RN utilizes nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care of pediatric patients from admission to department through discharge or transfer. Provides expert care and education to patients in clinical setting, acts as patient advocate, leader, and mentor for assistive personnel. Knowledgeable in clinical nursing procedures, disease processes, interventions, and pharmacological agents. Manages patient loads in assigned timelines.
