About the Role
Altabank, Division of Glacier Bank, is looking for a Full-time Director of Portfolio Management for our Pleasant Grove Service Center branch.
Summary
In partnership with loan and executive officers ensures the credit department controls the risk profile of the Bank and meets strategic, service and growth plans. Ensures established policies and procedures are followed. Trains, directs, develops and supervises staff. Ensures that internal/external customers are promptly and professionally served. Ensures open communication is occurring with all loan staff of the Bank. Fosters an atmosphere of professionalism, trust and caring. Responsible for the management and performance of direct reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate.
- Provides guidance to team members as they complete credit memos to ensure adequate enforceability of company's position for new and existing loans reviewed. Analyzes current financial position of customer to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit, reviews with lending officer, and prepares written summary to be presented to committee meetings for approval.
- Manages the spreading process and develops training and guidance for financial statement and tax return analysis
- Provides ongoing training and guidance on the loan origination system input, including risk grade, collateral, covenants, TPEs, and conditions.
- Lead or assist with projects that will consist primarily of credit administration issues and may relate to possible changes in policies and procedure, possible changes as a result of examiner or auditor recommendations, peer group analysis, market studies, changes in compliance and regulations, software upgrades, monitoring of industry or borrower concentrations, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for efficiency gains such as out-sourcing, in-sourcing, centralization of duties/staff, etc.
- Develops processes for efficient portfolio management including bank wide covenant monitoring, Annual Loan Reviews, Problem Loan Reports, and other credit reports.
- Work with HR to post open positions, review applicants, schedule and lead interviews with Senior Credit Risk Officer.
- Manage PTO and timesheets of assigned analysts.
- Coordinate and provide input on annual performance reviews and meet in monthly one-on-ones with assigned analyst team.
- Directs, develops, motivates, hires and disciplines personnel; administers performance evaluations and recommend appropriate personnel actions; conducts ongoing review of individual development plans.
- Meets regularly with staff both formally and informally to foster an atmosphere of professionalism, trust and caring.
- Meets monthly with management partners to coordinate ongoing analyst activities and goals.
- Continually seeks ways to improve efficiencies with productivity and meet established goals. Takes appropriate steps to correct unsatisfactory conditions. Closely monitors the improves risk controls of the Bank.
- Stays current on bank policies and procedures. Updates policies, procedures, and processes annually or as needed. Analyzes software programs to meet strategic goals.
- In coordination with management develops and manages to a yearly budget.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s). It is the individual learner responsibility to ensure that they understand the information given to them in each training. If the learner does not understand the information given they need to reach out to their supervisor for further clarification or additional training.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
