Role OverviewEmerson and Friends is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and hands-on Director of Operations to lead and optimize the day-to-day execution of the business as we rapidly scale.
This role is responsible for building and managing the systems, processes, and cross-functional alignment required to support a growing multi-channel brand across e-commerce, wholesale, and retail.
The Director of Operations will ensure the business runs efficiently, inventory is optimized, and teams are aligned—transforming operations from reactive to proactive and scalable.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Planning & Demand Forecasting- Own inventory strategy across all channels (e-commerce, wholesale, retail)
- Forecast demand and align purchasing and production accordingly
- Establish reorder points and manage stock levels to prevent stockouts and overstock
- Partner with production to plan seasonal timelines and deliveries
Production & Vendor Management- Oversee purchase orders, production timelines, and delivery dates with manufacturing partners
- Maintain strong communication with factories and vendors
- Identify and mitigate risks (delays, shortages, quality issues) proactively
- Continuously improve lead times and production efficiency
- Coordinate shipments
Operations & Fulfillment Management- Oversee order processing and fulfillment operations
- Ensure timely, accurate shipping across all channels
- Optimize workflows across Shopify and internal systems
- Improve operational efficiency and reduce errors
Cross-Functional Leadership- Act as the central point of alignment between:
- Marketing (launch timing, inventory readiness)
- Wholesale (order planning, allocation)
- Retail stores (order planning, allocation)
- Product/Creative (development timelines)
- Ensure all teams are operating from a shared plan and timeline
Process Development & Systems- Build and implement scalable systems, SOPs, and workflows
- Standardize processes across departments
- Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions
- Create repeatable frameworks for launches, reorders, and production cycles
Data & Performance Management- Track and report on key operational metrics:
- Inventory health and turnover
- Forecast accuracy
- Order fulfillment timelines
- Operational efficiency
- Provide insights to leadership to support decision-making
Qualifications- 5-8 years of experience in operations, supply chain, or inventory management (preferably in apparel or consumer goods)
- Experience scaling a product-based business (multi-channel preferred: DTC + wholesale)
- Strong understanding of inventory planning and demand forecasting
- Proven ability to build systems and improve operational processes
- Experience working with overseas production and managing timelines
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decisions
- Strong leadership and communication skills
