The Opportunity

 

MLR Media is seeking a Director of Marketing to help define and accelerate the next phase of growth across our brands.


This is a builder’s role for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and hands‑on execution and can:


  • Clarify and sharpen market positioning
  • Develop compelling value propositions and craft persuasive messaging
  • Build and scale demand generation efforts
  • Execute with discipline and speed


You will operate across conferences, digital platforms, membership communities, and publications, helping to grow highly curated audiences that are difficult to reach through traditional channels.

 

This role will also help drive demand from sponsors seeking to reach our powerful audiences of business leaders, directors, and owners and will partner closely with sales leaders who convert that demand into revenue.


What You’ll Own

•        Marketing strategy across MLR Media brands 

•        Strategic positioning and messaging 

•        Demand generation and audience growth of event attendees, members and subscribers

•        Campaign development and execution 

•        Marketing analytics and performance reporting 

•        Marketing programs that support sponsorship and advertising growth

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Positioning

  • Define and refine positioning across MLR Media’s brands
  • Develop clear, differentiated value propositions for conferences, digital products, memberships and publications
  • Translate positioning into messaging that improves conversion across campaigns, landing pages, and sales materials


Sponsorship & Advertising Growth

  • Communicate the value of MLR Media’s audience to sponsors and advertisers
  • Develop marketing initiatives that strengthen sponsor pipeline and support the sales team
  • Generate qualified demand and equip sales teams with the messaging and materials needed to convert effectively


Demand Generation, Growth Execution and Attendee Registrations

  • Build and execute campaigns that drive audience growth, event registrations, and membership
  • Own demand generation across key channels, including digital, email, partnerships, and social
  • Lead social media strategy with a focus on reach, engagement, and audience expansion


Audience Development

  • Expand reach within high-value, hard-to-access audiences, including board members, CEOs, family business leaders, and family office executives
  • Refine and prioritize target segments and ideal customer profiles across brands


Community-Led Growth

  • Develop strategies that leverage existing audiences and members to drive organic growth, referrals, and network effects
  • Design marketing approaches suited to high-trust, relationship-driven communities


Measurement & Experimentation

  • Track campaign performance and continuously optimize based on data
  • Build repeatable growth systems through disciplined testing and iteration


Lifecycle & Engagement (in partnership)

  • Partner with membership and event teams to improve engagement, retention, and overall audience value


AI & Marketing Innovation

  • Leverage AI tools to enhance personalization, segmentation, and marketing efficiency
  • Evaluate and implement modern marketing technologies to improve performance and scale

Operate as a hands-on leader who can both set strategy and execute campaigns.


Over time, build and lead a high-performing marketing team.


Ideal Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience of marketing or growth marketing experience
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution ability
  • Exceptional messaging and communication skills
  • Data-driven mindset with experience measuring and optimizing performance
  • Experience in B2B media, conferences, membership communities, or adjacent sectors is a plus
