Arett Sales is a fourth-generation family-owned distribution company servicing the independent Lawn, Garden, Home and Holiday retail store for the last 75 years. We have active e-commerce operations across 1P and 3P channels, established EDI/API infrastructure, moden ERP, and hardware stack.
About the Role
We’re hiring an Director of E-Commerce who will work side-by-side with our executive vice-president. Candidate must have direct experience running major platforms and a proven track record of sales growth driven by their decisions and execution. This is a hands-on role for a doer. You will manage an E-commerce Assistant and Marketing Assistant and coordinate with Customer Service, Finance, EDI, and our internal ad agency.
This role is a fit for someone who has already managed a team or someone who hasn’t yet but has clearly operated at that level and is ready to step into it.
Responsibilities
- Platform Operations: Daily ownership of Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace, Home Depot, Wayfair, and Lowe’s (1P + Marketplace). Amazon Vendor Central will be managed by EVP with your support.
- Pricing & Data: SKU-level margin analysis, pricing execution, catalog data quality, and feed/integration management
- Compliance & Risk: Proactive chargeback management, listing suppression resolution, and portal compliance
- Efficiency: Use automation and AI tools to increase speed and accuracy in analysis, data collection, and decision-making
- Leadership: Lead and hold a small team accountable. Surface and present new ideas
Time split: ~90% execution / ~10% automation and systems improvement
Qualifications
- 5+ years direct experience in Amazon Vendor Central and Seller Central, plus experience with Walmart, Home Depot, Wayfair, and/or Lowe’s
- Documented history of strong sales growth attributable to your actions (pricing, assortment, execution, compliance fixes)
- Strong Excel skills with large datasets and profitability analysis. Excel continues to bridge the gap between current and future automation so you must be an expert in excel
- Hands-on customer portal experience: chargebacks, compliance rules, taxonomy, feed management
- Basic understanding of EDI/API. Mainly understanding the capabilities.
- Regular use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT Codex/Claude Cowork) to improve productivity and decision-making.
- Team leadership experience or clear readiness to step into people management (ownership, prioritization, accountability)
Compensation / Schedule
- $100,000+ (dependent on demonstrated results and skill depth)
- Hybrid: 2-3 days in-office (South Jersey), 2-3 days remote
- Fully remote considered for exceptional candidates (full remote is unlikely so you must be willing to relocate)
