POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, executing, and growing annual giving initiatives, with a primary focus on serving as campus coordinator for the institution’s annual Day of Giving. This role also leads the coordination and execution of Foundation events, ensuring meaningful donor engagement and a high-quality experience for all participants. The position works collaboratively with development staff, campus partners, and volunteers to strengthen philanthropic support and community involvement. This position also focuses ongoing stewardship efforts that will ensure engagement with past donors to encourage sustained giving and support to the Fairmont State Foundation (FSF).
This position involves significant relationship management, administrative coordination, and data support, requiring strong attention to detail, flexibility, and teamwork. A strong candidate will work with minimal supervision in a work environment of multiple and conflicting priorities, anticipating and resolving problems and updating supervisors on the status of projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist the professional fundraising team with calendar management, including marketing deadlines, event timelines, collateral production, and direct mail and email appeals.
- Act as the first point of contact with stakeholders and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Serve as the primary campus coordinator for the annual Day of Giving, managing timelines, logistics, and cross-campus collaboration including developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies, collecting content for Day of Giving website and marketing materials.
- Coordinate stewardship and follow-up communications with donors.
- Assists with the execution of a donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving as defined by the Development team.
- Acts as a liaison and specialist to development personnel to provide cultivation and stewardship assistance to individual donors and prospects.
- Participates in the execution of communication strategies for internal and external audiences in multiple mediums. This will include, but not be limited to, newsletters, Annual Report, donor impact reports, gift acknowledgements, and invitations.
- Responsible for planning and execution of Foundation donor and campaign related events.
- Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, vendor coordination, budgets, timelines, and run-of-show documents.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure events align with institutional goals and brand standards.
- Oversee event communications, invitations, RSVP tracking, and attendee management.
- Ensure a high-quality guest experience and effective donor engagement at all events.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to measure success and identify improvements.
- Participate in appropriate college and foundation events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field, required.
- Two years of experience in a customer facing event planning or project management role.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams.
- Creativity and strategic thinking in engagement campaigns.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with donor databases a plus.
- Able to work professionally with volunteer Board of Directors, University Administrators, Staff and Faculty.
