Position Overview:
Within broad parameters defined by the City Administrator, under limited supervision and administrative direction, in accordance with general organizational requirements and accepted practices, the Deputy City Administrator (DCA) assists the City Administrator in the daily management of city services. Prepares and presents recommendations and oversees the implementation of difficult projects and meeting with various stakeholders to ensure that City's goals and objectives are met. Embraces the Administrator's commitment to excellence in leadership and service delivery, process improvements, and contributes to the development of a high performing, community supported organization. The DCA champions a friendly, respectful, collaborative, and responsive organizational culture based on best practices and high standards in municipal government operations, sounds fiscal management, and unquestionably integrity and transparency. As an active member of the Executive Cabinet Team, the DCA maintains strong, productive, and cooperative relationships amongst city departments to maximize used of resources and talent. Duties are performed with significant latitude for independent judgment in accordance with departments and city policies, federal, state and local regulations. The DCA is guided by the ICMA Code of Ethics and exercises impartial, non-political judgement. Reports to the City Administrator. Nothing in the duties of the Deputy City Administrator shall be construed to relieve the City Administrator from the responsibilities, authority, or accountability otherwise assigned to this position under the laws of the State of South Carolina or the ordinances of the City of Georgetown.
