Job Title: Deburring Technician
Job Description

The Deburring Technician carefully finishes aerospace and medical components by removing burrs and imperfections using a variety of hand tools and inspection equipment. This role focuses on visual and cosmetic deburring of primarily aluminum and some exotic materials, often under magnification, to ensure parts meet strict quality and cosmetic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and cosmetic deburring on aerospace and medical parts using hand tools such as knives, Scotch-Brite pads, sanding tools, and other small hand tools.
  • Work primarily with aluminum components, as well as some exotic materials, ensuring all edges and surfaces meet required specifications.
  • Use a microscope or magnifying glass for approximately 50% of the workday to inspect and deburr small or intricate features.
  • Carefully grind, buff, sand, and polish parts to remove burrs and achieve a high-quality finish without damaging the components.
  • Follow blueprints or work instructions to understand deburring requirements and critical areas on each part.
  • Inspect deburred parts using microscopes and other visual inspection tools to verify quality and cosmetic appearance.
  • Handle and position small parts with steady hand dexterity to perform detailed and precise deburring work.
  • Maintain an organized and clean individual deburring station to support efficiency and consistent quality.
  • Collaborate with team members and leads to understand priorities, clarify requirements, and support production goals.
  • Adhere to all shop safety practices while working with hand tools, inspection equipment, and metal components.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to use and work under a magnifying glass or microscope for extended periods.
  • At least 6+ months of experience in hand-dexterity work such as medical assembly, sewing, or similar fine, detailed tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle small parts and perform precise manual work.
  • Comfort working with hand tools including knives, files, Scotch-Brite pads, and other small tools.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and identify cosmetic defects on metal parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ months of deburring experience, preferably on metal components, is a strong plus.
  • Experience with medical device or aerospace parts is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with grinding, sanding, buffing, and polishing processes.
  • Experience using microscopes or magnifying equipment for inspection and rework.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints or detailed work instructions.
  • Interest in developing mechanical aptitude and learning more advanced machining skills over time.
Why Work Here?

You will join a smaller, highly technical aerospace shop that offers meaningful opportunities to grow into a skilled trade. Team members often start in entry-level deburring or assembly roles and receive hands-on training to learn how to run machines and expand their skill set. Working on complex aerospace components helps you build a strong mechanical foundation and a valuable, transferable skill base. The environment supports learning, growth, and long-term development in precision manufacturing.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small, open shop equipped with newer Haas mill machines and Citizen Swiss machines, offering exposure to modern CNC technology. The facility maintains a solid level of cleanliness, rated approximately 7.5 out of 10. Deburring work takes place at an individual desk or station, providing a dedicated space for focused, detailed tasks. You will frequently use microscopes and magnifying glasses, along with various hand tools, while working with aluminum and some exotic metals in a collaborative production environment.
