We are currently actively recruiting for a Data Governance Director for our client in the East Bay.
What this role is responsible for:
Leading the development + execution of data governance framework
Ensuring that our data is trusted, accurate, and consistent so that we can make better business decisions, improved financial outcomes, and reduce operational risk
Unlocking the full value of data across the organization through strengthening data accuracy, consistency, and accountability, directly impacting operational efficiency + our ability to scale
Operating as a cross-functional leader, partnering closely with senior business stakeholders + IT to establish clear ownership, enforce standards, and embed governance into day-to-day workflows
Will own the following areas =Data Governance Strategy & Framework, Cross-Functional Leadership & Alignment, Data Quality & Performance Management, Issue Management & Escalation, Technology & Enablement, and Standards, Policies & Controls
What you will bring to the role:
8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related fields
Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives in complex, matrixed organizations
Bring both strategic leadership + hands-on execution to build + sustain a scalable governance model that supports our growing business
Ability to thrive in a fast paced start-up like environment
Strong understanding of enterprise data domains such as product, pricing, inventory, financial, and customer data
Experience establishing data standards, governance frameworks, and data quality programs
Ability to influence + drive alignment across senior business + technical stakeholders
Strong analytical + problem-solving skills with a focus on business impact
Experience working with data governance tools (MDM, data quality, cataloging) is a plus
Retail, grocery, or consumer industry experience preferred
