Core Technical Qualifications
- Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets, routing fundamentals, DHCP/DNS).
- Ability to troubleshoot Layer 1–2 issues (cabling, patching, switch port configs, link failures).
- Familiarity with server hardware, rack/stack procedures, and cable management standards.
- Experience deploying equipment in data centers and IT network closets, including switches, servers, UPS units, and PDUs.
- Understanding of environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, leak detection).
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and power distribution systems in a data center environment.
- Ability to follow runbooks, MOPs, and SOPs accurately and provide feedback for improvement.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift, move, and rack heavy equipment (50–75 lbs typical).
- Comfortable working in tight spaces, raised floors, ladders, and overhead cable trays.
- Willingness to work in hot/cold environments (data Closets, outdoor generator areas, roof units).
- Capable of performing tasks in outdoor conditions when required (HVAC, generators, conduits, rooftop units).
Operational Responsibilities
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for HVAC, electrical, UPS, generator, and fire suppression maintenance or repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on data center infrastructure and IT closets.
- Support new architecture deployments, including planning, staging, installation, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate asset tracking, labeling, and inventory control.
- Respond to alerts, outages, and emergency situations with professionalism and urgency.
- Participate in on‑call rotation or flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
