Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data
architectures that enable trusted, secure, and high-performing data access across Metro Government under
the Chief Data & GIS Officer. This role is responsible for architecting and managing complex data flows,
integrations, and pipelines that connect systems and platforms, including Databricks, Snowflake, and other
cloud data ecosystems. The position provides technical leadership in data modeling, governance, and
integration strategy to ensure reliable and actionable information for citywide operations and analytics.
This class works under works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and
sequences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working
in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Designs and implements scalable enterprise data architectures that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
• Leads the integration of disparate data sources into centralized cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse.
• Develops data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data models that ensure data quality, integrity,
and security.
• Partners with business and IT teams to translate operational needs into data architecture solutions.
• Defines and enforces data standards, metadata management practices, and governance policies in collaboration with the CDO’s office.
• Optimizes data performance, reliability, and storage costs across hybrid environments.
• Works with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with privacy, access
control, and retention policies.
• Evaluates and recommends emerging data technologies, frameworks, and integration tools.
• Leads troubleshooting and performance tuning of data workflows and integrations.
• Mentors data engineers, analysts, and other technical staff to strengthen Metro’s enterprise data
capabilities.
• Contributes to citywide data strategy and the modernization of analytics environments.
• Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Computer
Engineering or related field.
• Ten (10) years of experience in data architecture, database engineering, or enterprise data
integration, including experience with modern cloud data platforms or an equivalent combination
of education, training, and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Must provide one’s own source of transportation.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
• Must complete annual security awareness training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body
movement.
• Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting
up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
