Role Summary:

  • Title: Corporate Controller
  • Reports to: VP & Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
  • Location: Houston, TX (Galleria area; 4/1 hybrid schedule)
  • Team Involvement: Oversees and develops a corporate accounting team of 10–11 professionals
  • Primary Focus: Lead corporate accounting operations, modernize close and reporting processes, and serve as a strategic partner to the CAO in a high-growth, transformation-driven environment


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement in close cycle efficiency
  • Oversee core corporate accounting functions including fixed assets, leases (ASC 842), debt, accruals, intercompany transactions, and credit loss accounting
  • Drive improvements in accounting processes, systems, and infrastructure, particularly in conjunction with the ongoing ERP implementation
  • Partner closely with the CAO as a key advisor and operator, helping elevate the overall accounting function and supporting business growth initiatives
  • Oversee technical accounting areas including revenue recognition (POC), equity accounting, FX/CTA, and purchase accounting for M&A activities
  • Lead audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls frameworks
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, operations finance, shared services, and segment leadership to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes and provide variance analysis and insights to senior leadership
  • Act as a key liaison across business units to ensure consistency in accounting policies and practices
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while establishing scalable processes and delegation structures
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting, efficiency, and data integrity


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams in a corporate accounting environment
  • Strong technical accounting background, including revenue recognition and complex accounting areas
  • Experience operating in high-growth, private equity-backed or transformation-driven environments
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, shorten close cycles, and enhance accounting infrastructure
  • Experience with ERP implementations and strong systems aptitude
  • Background in M&A and post-acquisition integration is a plus
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach and ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to partner closely with senior leadership


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Target base compensation range: $180K–$200K
  • Bonus: 30–40% annual performance-based bonus
  • Long-Term Incentive: Equity or LTIP component vesting over 3 years
  • Work Environment: High-visibility, in-office leadership role with direct exposure to CAO and CFO
