SALARY RATE: $152,776.00 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE

DUTIES:  This position functions as the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer (“CCPO”) for HHSC with a direct reporting line of responsibility to the HHSC Board of Directors for the purpose of advising and making recommendations to the Board about regulatory compliance issues and dotted line responsibility to the President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO). This position also has the function of setting direction for HHSC employees in regulatory compliance; in maintaining the effectiveness of the Corporate Compliance Program; in serving as a primary corporate resource for fraud and abuse regulations; in assisting HHSC in maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations impacting the health care services which HHSC facilities provide; in overseeing the internal audit function, and in acting as a consultative resource for reimbursement and regulatory issues.


The CCPO position takes a leadership role in the development, support and oversight of the system-wide HHSC compliance and privacy programs, as well as necessary updates and related activities and functions. The CCPO also provides support for HHSC regional compliance officers (“RCOs”) and regional compliance and privacy programs, with each regional system having primary responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and updating its regional compliance and privacy programs and regularly reporting on such programs to its regional system board and to CCPO, the HHSC Corporate Compliance Committee and the HHSC system-wide board


THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:  Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.


EDUCATION  A Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university in healthcare or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in healthcare or a related field or a law degree is preferred.


EXPERIENCE:  This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of related experience working in an acute hospital and/or integrated delivery systems or health care corporate compliance, and a broad knowledge of administrative and clinical hospital operations. Knowledge of regulations and laws that govern hospitals, long term care facilities, and physician practices is desirable.


Substitution: A Master’s degree in healthcare or a related field or legal practice involving health law is preferred and may be substituted for 3 years of experience.

The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Applicable checks may include, but are not limited to, state and federal criminal history records, child abuse and neglect registry check, adult protective services registry and sex offender registry records, etc. If a job offer is made or employment is begun prior to completion of all applicable checks, any offer of employment or continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory return of all required checks.

Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include: 1) The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2) the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is statute or rule violation, and 3) any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
