Controller | Seattle, WA | $125,000–$150,000 | Hybrid (3 days onsite)
We're partnered with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Seattle to place a permanent Controller. Strong team already in place, supportive senior leadership, and a genuinely people-first culture.
This is a great opportunity for a CPA who wants to do meaningful, hands-on work at a large, financially complex organization - without the pressure of a public company environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Controller, you'll own the full accounting and financial reporting function across multiple affiliated entities. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role. They want someone who digs into technical issues, follows up without being asked, and takes ownership of both the people and the process.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
• Full-cycle accounting across multiple entities - close process, reconciliations, variance analysis, cash flow
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation and board presentations
• Annual budgeting and forecasting across operating, capital, and cash budgets
• AP/AR oversight, cash management, and bank reconciliations
• Tax reporting - federal, state, local, 1099s, excise, workers' comp
• Annual audit management and coordination with external auditors
• Team management and development of 2 direct reports
WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
• CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior Controller experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing and developing small teams
• Comfortable presenting financial results to boards and senior leadership
• Strong technical foundation - GAAP, internal controls, multi-entity accounting
• Someone who follows through, figures things out, and takes pride in clean financials
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
• $125,000–$150,000 base salary
• Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, LTD
• 403(b) with match + pension
• Generous PTO, sick leave, and holidays
• Free parking or transit pass (yes, really — in Seattle)
• Hybrid schedule
• A genuinely mission-driven culture with people who care about their work
