Job Summary


The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading the Accounting & Finance function, overseeing the accuracy and timeliness of all financial operations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. This role manages the accounting team, partners with business leaders, and serves as a key liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners. The Corporate Controller plays a critical role in financial reporting, audit and compliance, treasury support, and supporting the COO and Owners of the company.


Leadership & Oversight


  • Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, staff across AP, AR, and general accounting.
  • Provide coaching, motivation, and support to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage personnel matters including hiring, performance management, recognition, and conflict resolution.


Financial Operations & Reporting


  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accurate, timely reporting
  • Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and cost accounting functions.
  • Review and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit standards.
  • Manage external audit process, coordinating with audit partners and internal stakeholders to prepare work papers and ensure timely completion.
  • Oversee tax compliance

Treasury & Banking


  • Partner and maintain strong banking relationships across multiple institutions.
  • Support debt/loan covenant compliance and treasury-related projects.


Strategic Projects & Growth


  • Provide financial diligence support on growth, including Quality of Earnings reviews
  • Collaborate with business leaders on ad hoc projects and financial analysis to support decision-making.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2/3 years in a leadership role.
  • Trucking industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, audit management, and compliance.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams through periods of change.
