About the Role:
Our client is a large, full-service electrical contractor operating across commercial, industrial, and specialty construction markets. The company is known for delivering complex, large-scale projects that require tight coordination, rigorous safety standards, and the ability to self-perform critical electrical scope from early construction through commissioning. Their operations emphasize reliability, schedule control, and long-term client relationships built on consistent project delivery.
They are seeking an experienced finance and accounting leader to support the Houston business unit. This role will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, supporting executive decision-making through data analysis, and ensuring strong fiscal processes are maintained across the organization. The position will work closely with operational leadership to manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance while supporting cross-team collaboration and business process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial data and advise senior leadership on strategic decisions related to organizational performance and future planning
- Ensure strong fiscal and business procedures are maintained across the organization while continually improving cross-team processes
- Manage all accounting and finance transactions for the Houston business unit
- Prepare the annual operating budget and periodic forecast updates in collaboration with Houston leadership
- Track actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts on a monthly basis
- Oversee approval of cash disbursements for the Houston operation
- Provide oversight and leadership for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams
- Serve as the primary accounting resource for operations and finance personnel regarding ERP system usage and support
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred
- 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- 2+ years of construction accounting experience using the percentage completion method
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Experience with Oracle JD Edwards preferred
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computer proficiency including strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to also understand broader business objectives
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
