Controls Engineer / Senior Controls Engineer

Location: Hebron, KY

Travel: Approx. 25% across the U.S. - compnay vehicle provided

We are seeking both a Controls Engineer and a Senior Controls Engineer to join a collaborative, driven automation team supporting automotive manufacturing projects. This is a hands-on role focused on developing, installing, troubleshooting, and commissioning advanced automation software solutions for custom equipment.


The position is ideal for candidates with strong controls experience who enjoy working in a team environment and solving complex technical challenges from the ground up. Senior-level candidates should also bring leadership capability and a willingness to mentor and support junior team members.


Team Environment

You’ll be joining a team of around 50 employees at the Hebron site, working in a driven environment where collaboration matters. The work is primarily focused on the automotive industry, and the team values strong communication, accountability, and a practical, hands-on approach to automation.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop, install, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robot, motion, and vision software solutions.
  • Program from scratch and contribute to complete machine control system development.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and project teams to ensure solutions meet customer and equipment requirements.
  • Support debugging, commissioning, runoff, and machine acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical input during design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement across the team.
  • For senior candidates, offer technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced team members.


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience programming from scratch is essential.
  • Strong robotics programming experience.
  • Industrial networking experience is required.
  • PLC/HMI experience is beneficial, particularly with Siemens, and exposure to Allen-Bradley or Omron is a plus.
  • Experience with Cognex, Ignition, vision systems, or safety systems is advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • U.S. citizens only.
  • Candidates with 6 years or less experience must hold a degree.
