Job Title - Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support advanced industrial control systems for wastewater treatment, biosolids processing, and industrial automation solutions.
This role involves working on end-to-end control system design, PLC/SCADA programming, and field commissioning, ensuring seamless integration of control systems into customer environments while optimizing performance, reliability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop industrial control systems (hardware & software) for process equipment and treatment systems
• Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen Bradley – ControlLogix/CompactLogix)
• Work with Ignition SCADA platform for system monitoring, reporting, and visualization
• Integrate instrumentation, motors, analyzers, and field devices into control systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, process engineers) to deliver optimized solutions
• Perform system testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting
• Conduct process control tuning, calibration, and system optimization
• Design network architectures for industrial communication systems (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
• Analyze system performance and implement improvements for efficiency and reliability
• Provide technical support, training, and documentation for internal teams and clients
• Participate in risk analysis, quality checks, and continuous improvement initiatives
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
• 8–10+ years of experience in industrial controls / automation engineering
• Strong hands-on expertise with PLC systems (Allen Bradley preferred)
• Experience with Ignition SCADA platform (must-have)
• Experience with VFDs (PowerFlex preferred) and industrial instrumentation
• Strong understanding of process control systems (PID, analog/digital I/O, HMI)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings
• Experience with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with field commissioning, troubleshooting, and client support
• Proficiency with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls Engineering, or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills
• Experience with SCADA/PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, GE, etc.)
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming and database systems
• Experience in wastewater treatment, biosolids, or industrial processing environments
• Familiarity with environmental and safety compliance standards
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams
