Job Title: Construction Inspector

Job Description

• We are seeking a Construction Inspector / Construction Oversight Representative to support field activities on large infrastructure construction projects across New York State.
• This role will focus on monitoring contractor work, observing construction progress, and helping ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with project expectations.
• This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with general construction inspection experience or contractor oversight experience, including commercial, civil, infrastructure, or utility-related projects.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor work and observe construction progress.
• Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with project expectations.
• Read and understand basic construction drawings and specifications.
• Utilize basic technology such as Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
• Communicate effectively and organize documentation related to construction inspection.
• Travel to project sites as required to perform inspections.

Essential Skills

• 1–5+ years of experience in construction inspection, construction oversight, or field support roles.
• General understanding of construction workflows and contractor operations.
• Comfortable working on active construction sites and interacting with contractors.
• Ability to read and understand basic construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience on infrastructure, utility, civil, or energy-related construction projects is preferred.
• Exposure to pipeline, electric, gas, telecom, water, or utility work is a plus.
• Previous work with regulated or safety-sensitive projects is beneficial.
• Familiarity with inspection reporting, daily logs, or field documentation tools is advantageous.

Work Environment

• This role is field-based on active construction sites, requiring outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Overtime or extended hours may be required during peak construction activity.
• The position offers exposure to large, visible infrastructure projects that matter, such as energy, utilities, and transmission systems, providing experiences that enhance your resume quickly.
• There is a focus on converting strong performers to permanent employees, offering a dynamic work environment with opportunities for faster skill development compared to static sites.

*This role is 6 days on site, 60 hours. Any hours over 40, you will receive time and a half. Per diem provided if not local, able to travel home for Sundays!*

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgeport, CT.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Bridgeport,CT.
