Job Summary


A leading midstream energy company is seeking an experienced Lead Discipline (Safety) Inspector to oversee all project safety inspection activities during pipeline construction. The successful candidate will lead the safety inspection team, support the Chief Inspector, and act as the primary point of accountability for safety compliance on site. This role ensures that all construction activities adhere to company standards, Site Specific Safety Procedures (SSSP), the Contractor Safety Manual, OSHA regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead all project safety inspections and serve as the primary safety authority on site.
  • Assist the Chief Inspector with daily duties and assume full responsibility in the Chief Inspector’s absence.
  • Enforce company safety plans, policies, and procedures while maintaining strong communication and coordination with contractor personnel.
  • Supervise field safety staff, delegate responsibilities, and ensure high team performance and accountability.
  • Review daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and permit compliance activities for company and contractor personnel.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with the Site Specific Safety Procedures (SSSP), Contractor Safety Manual, OSHA, and all other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and field observations covering labor, equipment, materials, and work practices.
  • Identify, report, and assist contractors in investigating all incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Resolve hazard identification and mitigation issues promptly to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Provide field administration, review inspectors’ reports, prepare progress reports, and maintain accurate project records.
  • Act as the company’s field representative for regulatory compliance and safety matters.
  • Evaluate extra work requests, coordinate contract activities, and address project safety issues as they arise.
  • Monitor project personnel performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Minimize environmental impacts and ensure environmental compliance during construction activities.
  • Prevent conflicts of interest in inspections and maintain professional harmony among staff, contractors, and representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Inspector or project leadership.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Proven experience in pipeline construction safety inspection, preferably in midstream oil & gas or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, pipeline safety standards, and best practices for construction safety.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising safety personnel in field environments.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced field environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports, maintaining records, and using standard office tools.
  • Commitment to safety leadership, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Prior experience on large-scale pipeline construction projects.
  • Certifications such as API 1169 (Pipeline Construction Inspector), OSHA 30-Hour Construction, or equivalent safety credentials.
  • Familiarity with midstream pipeline construction standards and procedure
